Hello hello....can I just rant now? Sorry, but I NEED another fan of Locke Lamora to rant to. WHAT THE EFFING HECK THOP IS GOING ON WITH THE BOOK 3 RELEASE DATE!?!?!? First it said November 08, then Feb 09, now I'm getting reports it might be as late as July 09...what the hell is going on??? Please tell me you know more about it than I do. AAAAA I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR IT SINCE 2007 GODDAMNIT!!! *starts scratching eyeballs out*

All the hopping and jumping release dates come from the fact that retailers can't or won't just put "forthcoming" for a due date. Their sales systems are hungry for actual dates, any date, and so publishers offer a best guess. When it becomes obvious the book won't be out on that schedule, another date is needed, and then another, and then another. Nobody is consciously trying to piss anyone off, it's just the nature of the publishing / marketing / retailing system.

I completely understand. That comment was made a while ago, back in the Great Silence of 08. Now I have a better understanding of the situation, I won't be expecting a book for a while. It was just rather confusing hearing silence from official sources and having the book date jump around like that.

Yes, this was spoken some time ago and resulting from a hunger for great books. ;)

Like back then, when I was just discovering this excellent Greek restaurant and getting addicted to this wounderful eating-out-oppotunity, and suddenly its doors were closed and chairs were put onto the tables - although there was no message what happened and the name sign was still above the entrance.
I am still waiting for them to open up again, although the chairs are on the tables since 2008, and you hardly can read the name under all these spiderwebs.
But maybe its just a long vacation, right?

Coming back to topic: If something is excellent and outstanding it's worth waiting, be it books or Greek food.

*gets back into barrel, silently weeping for the Santorini mixed grill dish*

I'm sorry, I don't know either. I guess we just have to wait and watch amazon.com. It's pure torture, I know. A barrel of horse urine cannot be worse. ^^
